ENGAGE inspires new campaigns13 November 2013 | 14h26 | 191 visits “Think global, act local”, those terms have been the leitmotiv of the 11th German Week in the French region of Languedoc-Roussillon, held from the 27th November to the 5th October 2013. The main theme, eco-citizenship guided the event’s programme and called for citizen involvement. The initiative DeutschMobil, with the aim to promote German culture and language at schools, was also part of the event. Inspired by the European ENGAGE campaign, young people designed personal posters with slogans showing how they imagine environmental protection and how they put it into practice in everyday life. This project was intensive with the teacher visiting five secondary schools from Montpellier, Clermont-l’Hérault and Carcassonne. The pupils studying German participated in a two-hour activity based on games. By playing they learned useful vocabulary but also what fairtrade means or that the German people use lunchboxes. During the second hour, kids became creative by formulating slogans referring to climate protection. Afterwards, posters have been finalised for exhibitions. |
