Public servants try out electric vehicles in Heerlen19 June 2012 | 08h53 | 143 visits The municipality of Heerlen is committed to a cleaner environment and living. They strive and aim to reduce CO2 and particulate matter emissions in the city. The municipal organisation itself "walked the talk" on 21 May when it started to use ‘experimental electric vehicles’. This initiative is organised in cooperation with the Foundation Limburg Electric. Public servants are able to try various electric vehicles for commuting and working arrangements for the day. The central theme is “drive electric ”- cleaner and more sustainable forms of transport for organisations and companies. The kickoff was an opportunity to network, to see and test vehicles and gather ideas about sustainable mobility and sustainablility in general. The alderman for environment and sustainability, Fred Gillissen was present. And of course the ENGAGE team of Heerlen was present too! During the day a number of public servants were poster models and gave making pledges for a sustainable Heerlen! |
