The first Romanian ENGAGE campaign is in Bistriţa21 May 2012 | 09h43 | 183 visits The city of Bistrița is the first Romanian city to join the ENGAGE campaign. Since April 2012, they have developed communications activities and have already gathered more than 100 engagements from citizens, stakeholders, public servants and elected representatives. Bistrița is actively running a local ENGAGE campaign by integrating its specific actions into the framework of local manifestations that mark international environmental events: Earth Day in April, the World Environment Day in June and the European Mobility Week in September. During the Earth Week, from the 24th to the 27th of April, Bistrița decided to increase children awareness of environmental issues, and chose to produce ENGAGE posters to materialize their commitments! On the 27th of April, other students participated in a tree planting activity and then took a collective commitment in the framework of the ENGAGE campaign. 3 photo sessions are planned to involve all Bistrița citizens in the ENGAGE campaign:
In July, an exhibition of the posters and commitments will be installed and open to all during the Bistrița City Days. The assessement of the campaign, in particular in terms of reduction of CO2 emissions is planned for April-May 2013. Posters with the fulfilled commitments will have a sticker with the text "commitment accomplished". Almost 3 years after the signature of the Covenant of Mayors, the city of Bistrița aims to implement a creative and attractive campaign to commit the public society to local energy objectives. Ovidiu Crețu, Mayor of Bistrița, commits on behalf of the city to reduce by at least 20% the CO2 emissions of the city by 2020. |
