Bistrița is ENGAGEd!

	Capital of Bistriţa-Năsăud county, Bistriţa Municipality is located in Bistriţa Valley, on the lower course of Bistriţa river, at an altitude of 358 m. Within the county, the city is located in a central-south-eastern part. The administrative territory covers 144 kmp. Bistrita Municipality joined the European Commission`s initiative „Covenant of Mayors” on the 29th of October 2009. Sustainable Energy Action Plan of Bistriţa developed within this European initiative includes a total of 88 measures in order to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% until 2020, compared with the baseline year 2008. These measures concern the following main areas managed by the city hall: buildings, public lighting, transport, local production of electricity from renewable sources, urban planning, information campaigns and public awareness. From September 2011 Bistriţa Municipality actively participates in the european campaigns Display®Campaign and Smart-e Buildings Campaign, in order to promote energy efficiency measures in public buildings in the city of Bistriţa.
